USAID’s Organizational Development Activity (ODA) is an initiative intended to support USAID/Uganda in further strengthening the internal relationships, systems, practices, and organizational culture that underpin the Mission. The Activity will build upon the gains realized from the highly consultative process of engagement with its staff and others that yielded the Company Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS). USAID has already begun the transformation journey towards staff, teams, cross-teams and a Mission that will realize this strategy. Kaizen through the USAID Organizational Development Activity (ODA) will support and empower USAID to become a Mission of development catalysts who, individually and collectively achieve the CDCS, shape the Ugandan development agenda, and have time and support to do so. This will help lift millions of Ugandans out of poverty, and likely become a model for other Missions.
Job Summary: The purpose of hiring the Organizational Development Associate/intern is to assist the Organizational Development Director. The Organizational Development Associate/intern may also work more broadly across the ODA team to support specific activities and events, with guidance from ODA team members. A stipend to cover living expenses will be paid out as an incentive. It is expected that the selected Organizational Development Associate/intern will work full-time (40 hours per week) for twelve months.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Conducting research on a variety of OD topics and presenting summarized information
· Creating templates and protocols for OD interventions
· Creating content for learning resources to support OD
· Analyzing data from various sources to determine themes and form hypotheses for further analysis
· Creating initial draft reports to present findings
· Supporting development, delivery, and logistics of OD workshops, trainings, and events
· Providing creative input on ODA initiatives
· Completing additional projects as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The USAID Organizational Development Activity (ODA) requires an Associate that possesses extremely strong interpersonal skills that lead to effective relationships across a wide spectrum of professional experiences as well as cultural diversity. In addition, the interested Associate should possess the following qualifications and skills:
· A Bachelor’s degree in organizational management or development, industrial psychology, business administration, or other relevant field.
· Be familiar with learning and organizational development, change management, and human resources management principles.
· Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
· Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both oral and written in the English language.
· Excellent skills in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
· Must possess professional demeanor and ability to work in a team environment.
· Is an entrepreneurial self-starter and works well without excessive supervision;
· Has demonstrated work ethic, leadership, great attitude and eagerness for self-improvement;
· Has demonstrated interest in international development and the objectives of the Activity;
· Proficiency with use of a computer and basic applications.
· Engage with real-world approaches to complex international development issues;
· Learn the basic principles of multi-donor project management through hands-on training related to Kaizen’s active USAID contract;
· Gain in-depth knowledge of Kaizen’s project through conversations with technical staff and project managers;
· Build and/or expand creative portfolio with real-world deliverables;
· Experience working in a fast-paced and collaborative office environment;
· Explore opportunities to take on a diverse array of tasks.
Duration: The internship program will last 12 months starting January 2019 and terminating on December 31st, 2019.
