Ruvuma Region is one of Tanzania’s 31 administrative regions. The regional capital is the municipality of Songea. According to the 2012 national census, the region had a population of 1,376,891, which was lower than the pre-census projection of 1,449,830. For 2002–2012, the region’s 2.1 percent average annual population growth rate was the twentieth highest in the country. It was also the 28th most densely populated region with 22 people per square kilometer.

The region is named after the Ruvuma River, which forms most of its southern boundary with Portuguese-speaking Mozambique (where it is known as «Rovuma»). The region is also bordered to the north by the Morogoro Region, to the northeast by the Lindi Region, to the east by the Mtwara Region, and to the northwest by the Njombe Region. Ruvuma has many different tribes, such as the Mpoto
Nyasa District lies between latitudes 10015’N and 11034’S and longitudes 34024’W and 35028’E. The District covers a total of 3,811 square km of land and water. It is one of the remote Districts in Tanzania and it borders Mozambique to the South and Malawi to the West .

Organizational Setting

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), leads international efforts to alleviate hunger, eliminate poverty and achieve food and nutrition security for all.
At present, FAO is supporting a number of interventions related to Agriculture (Crop, Livestock, Fisheries and Forestry) development. To ensure proper development of the Tanzanian fisheries sector, the Government of Tanzania endeavours to review its current Fisheries Master Plan, which was
developed in 2002. FAO has been requested to provide Technical Assistance for the development of a comprehensive Master plan, The Tanzania Fisheries Master Plan II, which will focus, as per the Government of Tanzania’s request, on the fisheries of Tanzania mainland (both inland and marine fisheries). Accordingly, FAO is recruiting a National consultant to support this process.
Reporting Lines
The National Specialist on Fisheries reports to the FAO Representative under direct supervision of the Assistant FAO Representative (Programme)

Tasks and responsibilities

Under the overall guidance of the FAO Representative and the direct supervision of the Assistant FAO Representative (Programme), and technical direction from the lead technical officer (LTO), the National Consultant will be required to undertake the following duties:

  • Provide technical leadership in implementation of interventions as described in the TCP project document for development of the Tanzania Fisheries Master Plan;
  • Management and coordination of project activities, in accordance with the project document and work plan;
  • Assist the Government of Tanzania with the identification of relevant stakeholder groups and their representatives related to the mainland Tanzania inland and marine fisheries sector, who will participate in the formulation process of the fisheries master plan;
  • Review the inland and marine fisheries sector of mainland Tanzania, taking into account the whole fisheries value chain and related sectors (trade, processing), but also agriculture or other sectors which might have an effect on fisheries (i.e. run-off of fertilizers, irrigation schemes which might have an influence on the connectivity of fish migration routes, tourism, etc.)
  • Liaise and represent FAO – Tanzania at the relevant meetings with development partners, national stakeholders and government officials engaged in natural resource management, in particular sustainable fisheries.
  • Organize and work with National Project Coordinator at the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries to coordinate all stakeholders as representatives of different stakeholder groups to make appropriate and meaningful contributions during issue identification and activity development to feed in the Fisheries Master plan;
  • Facilitate developing of terms of reference to guide authors in developing Baseline/Reference Document for inland and marine
  • Ensure appropriate implementation of the project following the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries
  • Participate in mobilization of additional investment resources for development of Fisheries sub-sector;
  • Prepare project visibility materials in collaboration with the Communications officer,
  • Perform any other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

  • Advanced degree (MSc) in Fisheries Science or related subject
  • Knowledge of the Tanzanian fisheries sector, both inland and marine would be preferable
  • National of Tanzania
  • At least 5 years’ experience in agriculture, food security, agricultural economics, rural development or related fields;
  • Fluent in English (including report writing) and Kiswahili

Position overview

More specifically, the clinical team members will:
  • Provide ALL Sauti biomedical services (HTS, FP, screening for TB, STI, Gender based violence, alcohol and drugs)
  • Enroll clients into ART outreach service and provide clinical care to HIV infected stable clients through ART outreach service including laboratory sample collection
  • Meet with district officials, community leaders and partners to introduce and schedule community ART services.
  • Collaborate with the CBHS providers, Regional coordinator and others to initiate and/or participate in demand creation in targeted communities.
  • Identify opportunities for the program to increase demand, efficiency and quality of program delivery.
  • Participate in the collection and reporting of ART outreach data as required by the program. And ensure proper clients records keeping and reporting
  • Stay current in knowledge in the field of HIV in general.
  • Ensure standard of care and conduct regular charts review
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with colleagues and local officials.
  • Perform other duties related to providing community ART as required.
Required Qualifications:

The Research, Evaluation and Learning team helps the IRC serve people affected by crisis with the most effective and efficient programs; designing and rigorously testing interventions, supporting the IRC in interpreting and applying existing research to develop high-quality, evidence-based programs, and conducting cost efficiency and cost effectiveness analyses to ensure the best use of our resources. The Airbel Center – IRC's Innovation Lab – aims to design, nurture, and scale new humanitarian interventions and delivery models by applying best practices from the behavioral sciences, human-centered design, rapid iteration, and multi-disciplinary problem-solving in the humanitarian context.

The Tanzania Research and Innovation Hub is a collaboration between the IRC, Innovations for Poverty Action, and the Behavourial Insights Teams. This Hub aims to enable adaptive project design, small-scale pilot studies, and larger-scale impact evaluations in Tanzanian refugee camps and surrounding host communities to improve outcomes for crisis-affected populations and create more impact for every dollar spent on aid.

The Research and Innovation Hub is an exciting initiative that will work in close coordination with IRC’s operational work in Tanzania and globally. IRC in Tanzania works in the sectors of health, education, protection and empowerment to provide humanitarian support to hundreds of thousands of refugees and Tanzanian host communities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Education: Master’s in development studies, social sciences, or other relevant field, or a Bachelors’ degree with significant field experience
  • Work experience: 3-5 years of progressive experience. Field experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in research and innovation in the humanitarian or development sector
  • Excellent organizational skills: the ability to multi-task, learn quickly, and work independently and productively in a fast-paced and detail-oriented environment
  • Flexible work attitude, proactive and demonstrated creativity: the ability to work productively in a team environment and the ability to problem solve creatively with minimal guidance

Jhpiego is implementing a number of projects in Tanzania and wishes to recruit ART Outreach Nurse/Clinician for our Morogoro, Shinyanga, Dodoma, Kilimanjaro, and Dar es Salaam offices.

Position: ART Outreach Nurse/ Clinician
Location: Morogoro (1), Dar es Salaam (4), Kilimanjaro (1), Shinyanga (7), Dodoma (1)
Position overview
Works in collaboration with the other members of the mobile team (and regional and district authorities) to offer high quality HIV counseling and testing, family planning services, screening and referral for STIs, gender-based violence, TB, alcohol and drug use, linkages, HIV care and treatment services to clients in their assigned region. More specifically, the clinical team members will:
Provide ALL Sauti biomedical services (HTS, FP, screening for TB, STI, Gender based violence, alcohol and drugs)
Enroll clients into ART outreach service and provide clinical care to HIV infected stable clients through ART outreach service including laboratory sample collection
Meet with district officials, community leaders and partners to introduce and schedule community ART services.
Collaborate with the CBHS providers, Regional coordinator and others to initiate and/or participate in demand creation in targeted communities.
Identify opportunities for the program to increase demand, efficiency and quality of program delivery.
Participate in the collection and reporting of ART outreach data as required by the program. And ensure proper clients records keeping and reporting
Stay current in knowledge in the field of HIV in general.
Ensure standard of care and conduct regular charts review
Develop and maintain excellent relationships with colleagues and local officials.
Perform other duties related to providing community ART as required.

Required Qualifications:
Must be a licensed nurse, nurse/midwife, clinical officer, assistant medical officer or medical officer in good standing.
Experience working with populations at high risk for HIV, conducting outreach testing, and/or in provider initiated counseling and testing, and family planning services, desirable.
Must be willing to be based in assigned region with extensive (weekly) travel. Must be willing to work off and unusual hours. Travel up to 80% of the time.
Must be physically fit to assist with set up and break down of services in sites.
Must demonstrate self-management (i.e. motivation, dealing with pressure, adaptability)
Must be highly flexible to accept dual roles and extra tasks as assigned by the site coordinator.
Additional experience with ART, community counselling, mobile HTS, Family planning and GBV is desirable.

We are seeking an organized and proactive administrative assistant to join our organization. Duties and Responsibilities.

Requirements and Qualifications
2 or more years of experience as an administrative assistant.
Fast, proficient, and accurate typist.
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Suite and other administrative programs.
Outstanding communicator, both orally and written, especially in Arabic and English.
Self-starter who works well independently.
Ability to prioritize given tasks and work efficiently towards completing them.
Familiar with common office equipment (printers, copier, fax, etc.).


JOB TITLE: ECONOMIC AND COMMERCIAL OFFICER
Key Skills and Abilities:
Strong and demonstrated strategic thinking skills
Ability to develop and maintain an extensive range of contacts in government business, media, labor, educational institutions, and cultural circles.
Ability to plan, organize and execute complex research projects and to prepare precise and accurate factual and analytical reports.
High degree of independence in organizing work schedule and managing assignments and projects.
Advanced Computer skills in database maintenance and advanced MS Office.

Qualifications Required:
Fluent written and spoken Arabic and English is required. Must be able to communicate and draft factual and analytical reports in a clear and concise manner.
A university degree in Public or Business Administration, Political Science,International Relations, Commerce and Economics.
Must have a basic understanding of the local business environment, including major companies, cultural norms, and business practices.
