Nature and scope:
The job holder reports to the Managing Director. He/She is responsible for coordinating the planning of the bank programs and activities, research and advisory services as well as policy-related matters for the bank.

Key Responsibilities

  • To co-ordinate development of the bank’s long term strategy and corporate plans, and to monitor their implementation including conducting periodic plan reviews;
  • To prepare policies and guidelines on the formulation of plans, setting of targets, performance measurement and reporting thereof;
  • To co-ordinate development of performance management standards i.e. indicators and targets in all functional units with respect to set objectives.

  • To coordinate and carry out research aimed at enriching the bank’s knowledge and information base to facilitate implementation of its vision, mission and objectives.
  • To identify and manage line-of-business changes and build on ongoing partnerships with government leaders, key stakeholders and business partners for effective change management.
  • To co-ordinate the bank’s efforts aimed at establishing and maintaining collaborations and partnerships with other development banks for the purpose of sharing knowledge and business.
  • To conduct and facilitate training programs on corporate planning.
  • To develop and manage the bank’s relationship with various stakeholders, government offices and the public.
  • To monitor and report on implementation of management decisions and directives regarding the bank’s strategy and corporate plan.
  • To carry out any other duties assigned by the Managing Director from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE:

NATURE AND SCOPE:

The job holder reports to the Director of Finance. He/She is responsible for controlling and directing the financial accounting function in the bank and providing interpretation to the financial information including overall financial management of information systems of the bank.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY.

  • To control and direct the financial accounting functions of the Bank ensuring reports generated are in accordance with Bank’s guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Financial analysis of the bank’s performance and preparation of reports thereof

Job Purpose:

To support Senior Manager; Market and Liquidity Risk in managing and providing oversight on the Bank’s exposure to Market and Liquidity Risks to ensure interest rate, foreign exchange, price and liquidity risks. Key responsibilities:

Review and develop annual activity plan for Market & Liquidity Risk Unit and contribute to the overall activity plan for the department of Risk and Compliance.

Daily monitoring of the dealing room activities i.e. reporting on NOP, Fixed Income and Money market portfolio and reconciling all positions to ensure the same are balancing.
Daily review and check of trade and transaction rate reasonability to ensure consistency, spot all deviations for correction and reporting.
Develop/review and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and RCSAs for market & liquidity risk to ensure all sources of risks have been identified, measured and mitigated.
Ensure active and ongoing engagement with both the front office and back office to understand, monitor, and govern Market and Liquidity risk and to ensure all actions are compliant with prescribed policies.
Provide market and liquidity risk specific management reports to ALCO and Management Operational Risk Committee for decision making.
Risk Limit Governance: Assist in setting market and liquidity risk limits that align with the Bank’s risk appetite.
Monitor and report dealing room limit utilizations and ensure that all limit breaches are reported to the Management.
Ensure that market and liquidity risks are measured and monitored according to regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
Ensure the logging & tracking of identified issues affecting market and liquidity position in the treasury space with support units for analysis and resolution, and escalating of unresolved issues to senior management.
Monitor external risk factors that may warrant market & liquidity risk to ensure measures are put in place to mitigate similar exposures to the bank.
Training of bank staff on risk management principles, challenges, and their role as process owners to ensure risk management culture is inculcated among all staff in the bank.
Ensure timely closure of control issues on the unit raised by different reviewers’ i.e. internal and external auditors, risk & compliance and bank examiners.
Monitor middle office specific reports from head office (including those from Parent Treasury Front Office and Treasury Operations) and Burundi Subsidiary.
Ensure that Market and Liquidity risk management practices of the Burundi Subsidiary are properly aligned and replicated with the parent practices through support in review of policies, procedures and practices, and performance and compliance monitoring.
Perform any other assigned duties as may be required by the Management/Director of Risk and Compliance.

Attributes:

Understanding of Treasury products and processes, risks inherent in Treasury products and processes and their management;
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements guiding the Dealing room / or risk taken by the Front office.

Main Responsibilities

  • Take a leading role in driving MSE and Liability sales activities, through networking and promoting MSE activities with Relationship Managers, Branch Managers and MSE ROs.
  • Actively build the capacity of Relationship Officers and Relationship Managers
  • Coordinate and come up with initiatives to improve customers’ engagement platforms
  • Advise Head of Business Banking on all aspects of the development of Business ensuring that they are well informed
  • In collaboration with Product team, review and advise the bank on its pricing policy for products periodically
  • Monitor and ensure that the bank product delivery process is working properly and advise management on any changes to improve profitability.
  • Stay abreast of developments in the market
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Corporate communication/PR department in promoting business banking products and services.
  • Collaborate with Product team in developing new products to suit Business Banking customers
  • Monitor and ensure Business Banking loan portfolio is good and within the acceptable risk levels.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

POSITION OBJECTIVE

  1. This position is to engage, manage and work directly to improve the activities of the branch credit operations.
  2. To evaluate, provide analysis, conclusion, and recommendations to determine credit lines and communicate this information to customers and other team members of the branch.
  3. Engaged in conducting credit investigations/visitations and collecting delinquent accounts and answerable all branch credit-related issues to the branch manager and senior management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist branch manager in the creation of credit risk management environment of acceptable quality, in terms of established credit guidelines.

  • Ensure that weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and any other reports on loan portfolio are accurate, complete, and prepared on schedule.
  • Prepare all branch returns and ensure they are in accordance with the credit policy and lending manual.
  • Verify postings of loan administration fees for customers whose loans have been disbursed.
  • Ensure proper filling of customer credit documents and correspondents.
  • Improving the quality of customer’s data by ensuring all customers data is captured as per KYC set rules and regulations.
  • Analyse delinquent accounts and prepare report on highest risk accounts including recommendations for resolution.
  • Monitor violations of credit policies, provide analysis, conclusion and recommendations, present findings to the Branch Manager and suggest actions/penalties to be taken when appropriate
  • Develop processes and procedures for evaluating customer financial and setting and changing credit lines/limits, as well as credit holds; implement liens as necessary to major delinquent account as approved
  • Attend to the generated legal documents used in the credit function for onwards preparation of disbursements
