CRDB Bank PLC is looking for suitable person to fill a vacant position of Analyst;​ Market & Liquidity Risk​ in the Department of Risk & Compliance at the Head Office, in Dar es Salaam​.

Job Purpose:

To support Senior Manager; Market and Liquidity Risk in managing and providing oversight on the Bank’s exposure to Market and Liquidity Risks to ensure interest rate, foreign exchange, price and liquidity risks. In line with the bank’s overall risk management framework and appetite, monitoring compliance to statutory and regulatory risks related to Market and Liquidity Risks in the bank, and developing and implementing related risk policies and procedures in line with the organization’s risk profile.

Key responsibilities:

Review and develop annual activity plan for Market & Liquidity Risk Unit and contribute to the overall activity plan for the department of Risk and Compliance.
Performing independent market and liquidity risk reviews in the Treasury space (front and back office) at Head Office and subsidiaries for new and existing products, processes and systems in line with overall Group risk management framework as part of accomplishing the bank’s strategic plan.
Review and contribute to the development of Market and Liquidity risk specific policies and procedures of the bank and subsidiaries to ensure they are aligned with internal and external developments, regulatory imperatives and industry best practices.
Designing stress rest scenarios, performing stress test of the Bank’s balance sheet, interpreting the results and advising management on the best way to manage inherent or evolving risks.
Develop, implement and monitor risk management tools and metrics for effective market risk management i.e. including but not limited to PV01, Duration, DvaR, etc.
Fully participate on implementation of Treasury Management Systems (TMS).
Daily monitoring of the dealing room activities i.e. reporting on NOP, Fixed Income and Money market portfolio and reconciling all positions to ensure the same are balancing.
Daily review and check of trade and transaction rate reasonability to ensure consistency, spot all deviations for correction and reporting.
Develop/review and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and RCSAs for market & liquidity risk to ensure all sources of risks have been identified, measured and mitigated.
Ensure active and ongoing engagement with both the front office and back office to understand, monitor, and govern Market and Liquidity risk and to ensure all actions are compliant with prescribed policies.
Provide market and liquidity risk specific management reports to ALCO and Management Operational Risk Committee for decision making.
Risk Limit Governance: Assist in setting market and liquidity risk limits that align with the Bank’s risk appetite.
Monitor and report dealing room limit utilizations and ensure that all limit breaches are reported to the Management.
Ensure that market and liquidity risks are measured and monitored according to regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
Ensure the logging & tracking of identified issues affecting market and liquidity position in the treasury space with support units for analysis and resolution, and escalating of unresolved issues to senior management.
Monitor external risk factors that may warrant market & liquidity risk to ensure measures are put in place to mitigate similar exposures to the bank.
Training of bank staff on risk management principles, challenges, and their role as process owners to ensure risk management culture is inculcated among all staff in the bank.
Ensure timely closure of control issues on the unit raised by different reviewers’ i.e. internal and external auditors, risk & compliance and bank examiners.
Monitor middle office specific reports from head office (including those from Parent Treasury Front Office and Treasury Operations) and Burundi Subsidiary.
Ensure that Market and Liquidity risk management practices of the Burundi Subsidiary are properly aligned and replicated with the parent practices through support in review of policies, procedures and practices, and performance and compliance monitoring.
Perform any other assigned duties as may be required by the Management/Director of Risk and Compliance.

Attributes:

Understanding of Treasury products and processes, risks inherent in Treasury products and processes and their management;
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements guiding the Dealing room / or risk taken by the Front office.
Resilient understanding of financial risk management measurement tools such as DvaR, PV01, and Duration etc.
Solid understanding and usage of Excel, PPT and Treasury Management Systems.
Good understanding of ICAAP and Capital management principles (covering capital allocation).
Good understanding of model validation/review.
Ability to develop excel macros and working with big data excel spreadsheets.
Some knowledge in enterprise wide risk management framework, including risk identification, risk appetite and strategy, risk-related decisions, processes and controls, risk analytics and governance.
Ability to interact with and build relationships with people from different departments and levels of seniority.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, Accountancy, or business related subjects from a recognized university/institution. Master’s degree in the mentioned fields will be an added advantage.
Possession of a Risk Management certification from a recognized institution, or ACI –
Certification.

A candidate for this role must have worked in a similar role with exposure to Middle Office/Market and Liquidity Risks/Treasury in any Bank or Financial institution for not less than 5 years.

Job Purpose:

The overall purpose of the role is to provide business analysis support to designated projects in order to ensure that project requirements both functional and non-functional are well articulated and effectively communicated to relevant stakeholders, project deliverables and outputs meet the specified requirements, standards and quality objectives. Effective support model for ICT systems and other technology deliverables produced by the project is defined and implemented before deliverables are formally handed over to designated users.

Key responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning

  • To lead the requirements definition process which entails gathering, analysis and definition of user and business requirements from a diverse group of stakeholders
  • To translate business requirements into functional, operational and technical requirements
  • To analyse business requirements and recommend possible solutions
  • To perform investment appraisal and develop business cases for proposed projects and assist management in making informed implementation decisions

  • To review and approve any changes to business, functional, operational and technical requirements for designated projects
  • To devise the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) strategy and execution plan for designated projects and develop relevant test scenarios, test cases and scripts To oversee UAT execution and defects management.

  • To define an effective support model for any information systems and other technology deliverables produced by the project

Monitor and Evaluate

The Aga Khan Health Service, Tanzania (AKHST) an institution of The Aga Khan Development Network, has completed a major expansion of the Aga Khan Hospital, Dar es Salaam (AKH-Dar). This expansion aims at enhancing the Hospital’s facilities, technology and capacity which will allow it to become the leading provider of high- quality medical care focusing on tertiary medicine, reversing the flow of medical tourism and enhancing its capacity to deliver high quality health sciences education.

The Hospital is ISO 9001certified and Joint Commission International Accredited which is a testimony to the provision of the highest level of quality and patient service that compares with the best hospitals in the world. The Hospital is also a teaching site for The Aga Khan University, which offers postgraduate medical education programs leading to Master’s of Medicine in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine and Surgery. The Aga Khan Hospital is also an accredited internship site and accepts 60 interns annually.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager, Mwanza Medical Center and clinically accountable to the Head of Surgery Department AKH Dar, the Surgeon will lead clinical program development in surgery and ensure the delivery of surgery services in an effect and effective, manner. He will set the vision and actionable plan for the expansion of surgery and comprehensive delivery of clinical care, improve the quality of patient care, support the sustainability of the rotating surgeon programs, and develop evidence-based clinical care guidelines and a culture of continuous quality improvement. University of Oxford – Weidenfeld and Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme 2020 (fully-funded)

The University of Oxford Postgraduate Scholarships are open. The Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme cultivates the leaders of tomorrow by providing outstanding university graduates and professionals from developing and emerging economies with the opportunity to pursue fully-funded graduate studies at the University of Oxford, combined with a comprehensive programme of leadership development, long-term mentoring and networking.
The scholarship will cover 100% of course fees and a grant for living costs (of at least £15,009). Awards are made for the full duration of your fee liability for the agreed course.

About

The Oxford-Weidenfeld and Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme was established in 2015 thanks to generous donations from multiple donors to mark the 95th birthday of Lord Weidenfeld. In June 2017, Chairman André Hoffmann pledged an additional donation of £9m to the Trust which, thanks to matched funding of £6m from Oxford University, will double the size of the Oxford-Weidenfeld and Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme.

This scholarship is part of the Oxford Graduate Scholarships, which were established through a ground-breaking new matched funding initiative to enable the creation of fully-funded scholarships for graduate students of the highest calibre from across the world. The University contributes 40% of the funds for these scholarships, together with 60% from generous donations provided by supporters of the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Trust, including Fondation Hoffmann. Fondation Hoffmann is a Swiss-based grant making institution supporting the emergence and expansion of concrete projects which address global problems in today’s societies.

Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Aquaculture, Environment and Society 2020-2022 (fully funded)

Applications are now accepted for the fully funded Erasmus Mundus scholarships for the next academic year of the EMJMD ACES+. This is a full-time master’s program with full scholarship for European and international students.
The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Aquaculture, Environment and Society Plus (EMJMD ACES+) will give you a unique opportunity to study in up to four centres of European excellence in aquaculture research and learning; Scotland, Crete, France and the Netherlands. It will also allow you to gain the practical and theoretical skills needed for a successful career in aquaculture through industry-led research programmes, internships and fieldwork.

Erasmus Mundus scholarships are supported by the EACEA of the European Union.

Scholarship

  • Erasmus Mundus scholarships cover tuition fees, travel and living expenses.
  • There are a limited number of scholarships provided by MOWI and the Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre (SAIC). These scholarships are open to applicants who meet the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) residence eligibility criteria as a Scottish/EU student, and cover the cost of annual tuition fees and insurance (€2500 per academic year). Students must agree to undertake their research dissertation (4th semester) in partnership will a MOWI OR SAIC consortium industry company.

  • The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in AquaCulture, Environment and Society (EMJMD ACES+) is open to students who meet the following minimum conditions:
  • Bachelor degree (or equivalent; second class or higher at Honours level) in one of the fields of biological or environmental sciences. An appropriate background could include; aquaculture-related studies, marine science and/or resources, aquatic biology, biology, or environmental sciences linked to the field of marine science and fisheries; and
  • For non-UK students, a Secure English Language Test (i.e. IELTS) certificate (applicants must achieve an overall score of 6.5 in this test and a minimum of 6.0 in all four components).

They particularly welcome applications from mature students and/or those with practical working experience in the aquaculture industry.

JOB PURPOSE;

The General Manager will take leadership of company operations in Tanzania. The successful candidate will be accountable for legal compliance with in-country laws, public relations, local talent, business development, administration and operations

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES;

  • To grow the revenue, profitability and cash conversion of the business by seeking ways to improve the service quality and efficiency, customer retention levels and customer base growth in order to achieve budgeted levels of service and sales performance.
  • To innovatively drive market penetration and grow market share by introducing workable ways of selling new business services and solutions.
  • To oversee everyday operations and provide strong coordination and synergies between and across teams and departments in line with business processes in a manner that delivers operational excellence, and positive organizational culture.
  • Prepare annual budgets and oversee successful execution of expenditures.
  • To lead the people in learning and living up to the company Core Values, and delivery of the organization Vision and Mission.
  • To lead, train and develop talent within the team and maintain a high functioning and successful team that supports the company’s strategic plan.
  • Regularly have commercial review with Management for profitability and working capital including debtor.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS;

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant course, a Master degree in business management will be an added advantage.
  • At least 7-9 years sales/commercial experience, with 5 being of managerial responsibility.
  • A valid Driver’s Licence .
  • Computer literacy – (MS Word, Google, Excel and Internet).
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close

AILCD International Student Design Competition 2019 (Prize of 50,000 Yen)

The NPO Asian Institute of Low Carbon Design (AILCD) is pleased to invite students from all over the world to take part in the 9th AILCD International Student Design Competition.
The theme of this year is “Less is MOji – REboot the City”. The competition addresses the problem of urban shrinkage in the Mojiko area in Kitakyushu. The competition asks the students to re-design the urban landscape and to make a proposal for a low carbon urban project within this area. Urban shrinkage should be considered as a real problem for targeted area and the city of Kitakyushu.

Prizes

  • First Prize: 50,000 Yen and a certificate
  • Second Prize: 30,000 Yen and a certificate
  • Third Prize: 10,000 Yen and a certificate
  • 7 Honorable Mentions: Certificate

Eligibility

  • Multidisciplinary teams of Graduate (Master and PhD students) and Undergraduate students from Architecture, Landscape, Civil Engineering and related disciplines are accepted.;
  • Team and individual entries are accepted;
  • Only one project may be submitted per person or per team.

Competition requirements
You can choose the whole area of Mojiko or only one specific part, for example 2 or 3 sites within the same competition site area as the site for your proposal.

All proposals should contain one or more of below features:

  • Urban shrinkage
  • Low carbon city concept
  • Overall sustainable concept
  • Green space design
  • Usage of renewable energy systems
  • Sustainable transport systems
  • Connection to the surrounding area

Entries

  • Digital form: 4 (four) A2 panels (JPEG files) and 1 (one) PDF file containing the project statement (A4, 2 pages) in English
  • Panel size: A2 (594mm x 420mm) (landscape format = horizontal orientation)
  • The boards should contain project concept, diagrams, plans, sections, perspectives, and photographs, all in English.
  • Entries must contain the registration digit in the lower right corner on all boards (18pt)
  • No names of participants or affiliations are allowed on the boards
  • Proposals shall be sent by email and one e-mail should not exceed 10MB (e-mails over 10Mb can’t be retrieved). If the size of the e-mail exceeds 10MB send the files by separated e-mails
  • Proposals are not accepted after closing date for proposal submissions
  • File name: the registration number followed by page number 01, 02, 03 and 04, and 05 for the project statement, ex. LMRC19001-01, LMRC19001-02, etc

  • Names of all participants of your team, individual entries are accepted as well
  • Name of university including name of faculty and/or department
  • E-mail address of the team’s head student
  • After your registration is completed, you will receive a registration number which must be integrated in all boards of your final submission.
