OVERVIEW
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) was established in 1959 by Ordinance No. 413 as revised in 2002 under CAP 284. NCA is managed by Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism. The main functions of the NCAA are to conserve and develop the natural and cultural heritage resources, to promote tourism in the NCA and safeguard the interests of indigenous people living in the area.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(i) To drive all types of passengers’ vehicles and heavy trucks.
(ii) To maintain a log book for vehicle movement records according to regulations.
(iii) To transport luggage/baggage/cargo/parcels to various destinations as may be required.
(iv) To make regular check of vehicles to ensure cleanliness and serviceability.
(v) To ensure the vehicle is maintained as required.
(vi) To ensure the vehicle is equipped with all necessary accessories.
(vii) To ensure the vehicle has valid Insurance and all statutory covers.
(viii) To perform any other duties as may be assigned by his/her supervisor.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Holder of Secondary Education Certificate with passes in Kiswahili and English having a valid Driving Licence Class “C” or “E” and one month Basic Driving Course plus driving experience of at least one (1) year without causing accidents. Possession of Trade Test Grade II/Level II in Motor Vehicle Maintenance/Mechanics is an added advantage.

REMUNERATION
In accordance to NCAA’s salary scales.

2020 United Nations Public Service Awards to recognize Excellence in Public Service at the Local, Regional and National Levels

Nominations are now open for 2020 United Nations Public Service Awards (UNPSA) that recognizes excellence in public service at the local, regional and national levels.

The UNPSA is the most prestigious international recognition of excellence in public service. It rewards the creative achievements and contributions of public service institutions that lead to a more effective and responsive public administration in countries worldwide. Through an annual competition, the UN Public Service Awards promotes the role, professionalism and visibility of public service.

The purpose of the UNPSA is to promote and reward innovation and excellence in public services in support of the realization of the SDGs and the principle of leaving no one behind, which is at the core of the 2030 Agenda. It takes into account the various development levels of countries while reflecting the universal nature of the SDGs.

The UN Public Service Day intends to celebrate the value and virtue of public service to the community; highlight the contribution of public service in the development process; recognize the work of public servants, and encourage young people to pursue careers in the public sector. Since the first Awards Ceremony in 2003, the United Nations has received an increasing number of submissions from all around the world.

Aims
Through a global competition that promotes the role, professionalism and visibility of public service, the UNPSA aims to:

  • Reward excellence in the public sector
  • Motivate public servants to further promote innovation

Categories
The 2020 United Nations Public Service Awards (UNPSA) is now open for nominations under the following categories:

  • developing transparent and accountable public institutions
  • promoting digital transformation in the public sector
  • promoting gender responsive public services to achieve the SDGs

Eligibility Criteria

  • The Award is open to all public-sector institutions at the national, sub-national and local levels from all UN member states. In the case of partnerships (including civil society, private sector, academia etc.), the nominee must be a public-sector institution.
  • Both self-nomination and nomination by third parties are accepted. Applications should be made by an organization.
  • The initiative must be innovative and relevant to one of the UN Public Service Awards categories3.
  • The initiative must have been implemented for a minimum of two years, with demonstrated and documented impact.
  • The application must be duly filled out.
  • The submission must include all the required supporting documents.
  • The initiative must not have already received a UNPS Award.
  • To avoid conflict of interest, the initiative must not be implemented by the United Nations System.

Selection Criteria

  • Alignment with the 2030 Agenda: The 2030 Agenda is a plan of action for people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnership. The initiative should be aligned to the principles of the Agenda and its overarching priorities of leaving no one behind. In the context of a given country or region, it could be to improve delivery of public services, solve a problem of public concern, or strengthen public institutions.
  • Significance: The initiative should have made a positive impact on a group(s) of the population and address a significant issue of public concern within the context of a given country or region.
  • Adaptability: The initiative should be applicable and adaptable to other contexts for possible upscaling or replication. Ideally, it should be conducive to similar innovations in other public-sector institutions within a given country, region or at the global level.
  • Sustainability: The initiative should be sustainable in financial, social and environmental terms, that the desired outcome can be achieved and maintained.
  • Partnership: The initiative should demonstrate that it has engaged relevant stakeholders and partners. It should not be limited to public institutions and government entities but inclusive of non-state stakeholders of community, civil society, and private sector.

The African Women’s Public Service Fellowship, made possible by a donation from the Oprah Winfrey Foundation, expands the opportunity for African women to impact for public service in their home countries.

The Fellowship provides full tuition, fees, housing, travel to and from the United States, and a small stipend to cover books and miscellaneous expenses.

Fellowship recipients commit to return to their respective home countries at the conclusion of the program with the goal of assuming a leadership position on the continent where they can meaningfully contribute to the challenges currently confronting Africa.

This fellowship is only available to degree-seeking students. Advanced professional certificate and non-degree programs are not applicable for this fellowship.

Key Responsibilities
Planning

  • Develop annual marketing strategies for online marketing.
  • Develop annual visitor marketing strategies and public relations strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of an annual work program timeline with deadlines for key marketing initiatives.

Implementation

General

  • Work with business and academic teams in accordance with approved communications and authority protocols.
  • Ensure data entered into the CRM database and other data recording systems is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Review the newsletter subscription list monthly to ensure bounced records are assessed and updated as required and new subscribers to the newsletter list are added to CiviCRM.
  • Periodically review that new supporters on the database are being automatically added to the newsletter list.
  • Maintain awareness of security procedures in regard to storing, recording and transferring data in accordance with St Jude’s privacy and child protection policies.

Monitoring and Review

  • Conduct market segmentation research and analysis to ensure a comprehensive understanding of current and potential target audiences.
  • Generate monthly and quarterly reports including outputs and outcomes (results) in line with department KPIs.
  • Monitor, review and update strategies, plans, processes and procedures as required, and at least annually in October.

Continuous Improvement

  • Review new technologies and keep up to date with latest trends in marketing and fundraising analysis, making recommendations for relevant revenue generating initiatives.
  • Keep updated with current marketing and fundraising trends that may positively influence marketing practice.
  • In collaboration with business office managers and department heads implement agreed improvements and modifications to marketing activities.

  • Periodically suggest improvements to the departments’ procedures and submit to supervisor for approval.

Job Description

Direct Reports: MEDICAL COORDINATOR

Location: Dar es Salaam, with regular field visits to Kigoma Region, including temporary replacement of medical staff in Nduta project

Minimum Educational Qualification: Essential degree in medicine. Training in tropical medicine or Public Health will be an asset

Experience: Essential 2 years’ experience in relevant jobs, preferably in MSF or other NGO’s in developing countries

Languages: English and Swahili (speak, read and write), French will be an asset

Accountabilities

  • Supporting the Medical Coordinator in defining, monitoring and updating the medical content of the MSF country policy and annual plan,  by scanning health needs and translating them into objectives, priorities and resources needed in order to cover medical and humanitarian needs of the population at risk. 
  • At the request of the Medical Coordinator, representing MSF before third parties concerning medical issues, ensuring its good public  image and the alignment with the mission interests, through regular contacts with other actors in the country, negotiating with authorities when necessary, and informing on MSF charter, values and principles 
  • Participating and contributing in the definition and update of the country policy, annual plan and budgets in order to develop the  projects and programmes aimed at addressing humanitarian issues at stake ensuring its efficiency and quality ( i.e. monitoring the project implementation, assisting the Project Coordinator and the medical teams in drafting the project proposal and follow up, identifying priority needs, other potential areas of action and emergency situations and collaborating and assisting in the production of medical reports) 
  • Coaching, training and motivating the teams in the mission in order to align all field staff with MSF values and ethics, and ensuring their  capability to carry out their job achieving MSF quality standards (i.e. induction, briefing/debriefing, training, potential detection, evaluation) 
  • Collaborating, together with the logistics department and according to project needs, in the pharmacy management in order to ensure  enough and quality supply of drugs and medical material (i.e. review of medical orders and monitoring of medicines consumption and stock levels of the different projects) 
  • Assisting in defining and implementing the staff health and security policies for international and national staff in order to ensure its  overall safety (i.e. monitors both physical and mental health state of staff, promotes compliance of all related protocols and procedures and collaborates in the update of issues regarding the security context) 
  • Ensuring the Medical Coordination in the Mission and fully assuming the Medical Coordinator’s tasks and responsibilities in case of  absence/gaps.
