Job Purpose:

To develop and execute business strategy for bureau de change and implement tactical plans for attainment of revenue goals. The Job holder is responsible to drive Bureau de change products offered to SME and Retail customers by leveraging the bank’s wide branch Network.

Uphold and build a strong client focus, and awareness and understanding of operational aspects of bureau de change products and services in addition to possessing good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

Key responsibilities:

Strategic Focus
To develop and drive Bureau de Change strategy for the bank.
To develop the most effective business model for Bureau de Change set up.
To develop competitive Pricing strategy for Bureau de Change customers.
To identify strategic partners for successful implementation of the Bureau de Change strategy.
To support branches on regulatory compliance and KYC related activities.

Business Acumen
Possess a thorough understanding of Strategic business drivers, opportunities, challenges, needs, competition and threats inherent in the environment.
Ensure processes, structure, systems and resources required to effectively service customers are in place and continuously reviewed.
Align Bureau de Change business in line with local and international trends, developments and benchmarks within the industry.
Have a good understanding of key drivers, strengths and vulnerabilities of the Bank and position the Bank ahead of both traditional and non-traditional competitors.
Ownership of data integrity and accuracy of reporting.

Client Profitability and Risk Management
Negotiate terms and conditions with clients and establish pricing strategies.
Design measure/systems to monitor business performance on a regular basis.
Responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks with respect to Bureau de change operation.

Processes and Service Delivery
Develop, implement and own the end-to-end product sales processes and associated technology systems.
Conduct training workshops for internal and external clients to increase awareness and onboarding of new customers.
Work closely with branches to ensure smooth implementation and high client satisfaction.
Ensure timely resolution of relationship-sensitive client service issues within the organization and act as the senior escalation point in relationship-sensitive key service issues.

Governance
Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of the Bank’s arrangement to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls of Bureau De Change operation and, if necessary, oversee changes in these areas.
Ensure the business meets its obligations on the prevention of money laundering under the Bank Policy and Standards and under country laws and regulations.
Ensure that there are appropriate and documented internal controls and procedures in place; monitoring the operation of such procedures and controls and regularly review them to ensure that they reflect any changes in products, systems, policy and regulations.

Regulatory and Business Conduct
Ensure adherence to all internal and external regulations.
Good relationship with regulators with ability to contribute & where possible influence policy formulation. Keep abreast of all the changes in the regional and global environment.
Comply with guidelines as outlined in the dealing Mandate and other Operational Manuals.
Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk and compliance matters.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) is Tanzania’s sole Standards body, formerly established by the Standards Act No. 3 of 1975, which was repealed and replaced by the Standards Act No. 2 of 2009. It is a Parastatal Organization under the Ministry of Industry and Trade. TBS introduced internship programs for graduates from diverse academic backgrounds to have exposure in development issues and a first-hand impression of the day-to-day working environment of the Bureau.

The core functions of TBS are:

Formulation and promulgation of Tanzania standards in all sectors of the country’s economy
Implementation of the promulgated standards through third party certification schemes;
Improving the quality of industrial products both for export and local consumption through various certification schemes;
Promotion of standardization and quality assurance services in industry and commerce through training of personnel in Company Standardization, Quality Assurance and Management Systems, Quality Improvement, Laboratory Techniques and Accreditation, Packaging Technology and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP);
Undertaking testing of product samples drawn by TBS Inspectors in the course of Implementing standards (certification samples), requested by manufacturers themselves (type-testing samples), brought by consumers (consumer complaints samples) or for checking laboratory proficiency (proficiency testing samples);
Undertaking calibration of industrial and scientific measuring equipment and instruments in the area of mass, length, volume, energy, temperature, etc.

THE ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING
The Air Navigation Bureau (ANB) in ICAO is responsible for providing technical guidance to the Air Navigation Commission (ANC), the Council, and the Assembly. ANB provides technical expertise in aviation-related disciplines to States, industry and all elements of the Organization. The Bureau is also responsible for maintaining and implementing the Global Aviation Safety Plan (GASP) and Global Air Navigation Plan (GANP), including its aviation system block upgrades as well as producing yearly safety and air navigation status reports. The Bureau develops technical studies and proposals for Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), and Procedures for Air Navigation Services (PANS) for further processing by the governing bodies of ICAO. The Bureau also develops related procedures and guidance material. The Bureau also manages the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP) and Continuous Monitoring Approach that monitors all States on a continuous basis As part of the life-cycle-management of both the GASP and the GANP, ANB consistently assesses new and emerging issues. The Organization is also looking to develop modern approaches to address the nascent Commercial Space sector and other Multidisciplinary Priorities.
TERMS OF REFERENCE
Under the supervision of Programme Manager (Multidisciplinary Priorities) the intern will
  1. Assist in the identification of an area of study related to one of the Multidisciplinary Priorities.
  2. Assist in the development of analysis and profile of the key stakeholders associated with the identified area.
  3. Assist in the preparation of recommendations on products and services that ICAO can provide to the stakeholders, given its role and mandate, within the identified area.
QUALIFICATIONS
Educational background
At the time of application, candidates are required to have completed or be enrolled in a graduate degree programme (second-level university degree or higher) in a field of study related to Aeronautical Engineering or Aviation Management. Applicants pursuing studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages should have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree.
Language skills
Essential: Fluent reading, writing and speaking abilities in English.
Desirable: A working knowledge of a second language of the Organization (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
CONDITIONS OF INTERNSHIP
Interns are not paid. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by the intern. The duration of the internship is between two to six months. The intern is expected to work five days a week, on a full-time basis. Interns shall not be eligible to be engaged in any other form of employment within ICAO during the period of internship and shall not be eligible to apply for or be appointed to any post in the Secretariat or be contracted for any other remunerated employment with ICAO for the six months immediately following the end of their internship.
